The Beginning of Guidance (Bidayat al-Hidaya) by Imam al-Ghazali is a foundational, concise guidebook on attaining spiritual guidance through taqwa (God-consciousness). It serves as a daily manual for inner and outer purification—focusing on obedience, avoiding sins, and proper etiquette with Allah and His creation.

Insha’Allah, Shaykh Yasir Fahmy will guide us through the entirety of the text, highlighting key themes such as:

  • Three Main Sections: The basics of obedience, the necessity of refraining from disobedience, and the etiquette of companionship
  • Daily Routine & Worship: Essential acts of worship such as purification and prayer, with an emphasis on sincere intention
  • Spiritual Purification: Cleansing the heart from destructive traits like arrogance, envy, and greed
  • Balance of Knowledge and Action: Understanding that true knowledge must be accompanied by actions that bring one closer to Allah ﷻ
